The Ring Making Process

 A custom sterling silver or gold ring design is usually sketched on paper and then a model is hand carved from a special wax.  Before any work begins Tony can send you a sketch of the ring design for your approval.  During the wax carving process he will send you pictures of the wax model of your custom ring. This wax model is then destroyed by extreme heat in the burnout phase of the casting process.

This ancient manufacturing process is called "lost wax casting".  The  How Custom Jewelry is Made page has a detailed discussion of this ring making procedure.  The jewelry maker carves each wax model individually, making each item as unique as the person wearing it.  This one on one service helps to ensure that you receive a special piece of handmade jewelry to treasure for many years to come.

Your jewelry creation could be almost any type of design including a unique sports championship ring or class ring, diamond engagement ring, anniversary band, company logo ring and diamond or gemstone ring.  The ring can be made in sterling silver, 10 or 14 karat, yellow or white, gold or platinum.  Any gemstones can be used in your jewelry design including natural or synthetic.  Your own gemstones can even be used in the ring design.

What Your Custom Jewelry Will Cost

The price for a custom gold ring will depend on the complexity of the design, what precious metal is used and whether gemstones are included in your design.  For a simple custom ring the labor charge to carve, cast and finish starts at $250.  The labor charge for a championship or class ring with lettering or a design on the top and both sides begins at $1,200.

The price of the precious metal will depend on the type that is used and its weight, as well as current market conditions.  Your custom ring design can be cast in either sterling silver, yellow or white gold or platinum.
